Privacy Policy
Effective date: 31 October 2026
This policy explains what information the Easy Unzip app for Android handles, why it is used, and what choices you have. Easy Unzip is part of InfoLife and is operated by Pii Mobile Limited ("we" or "us"). We are responsible for how your information is handled as described in this policy.
Quick summary
- The app lets you open, preview, and extract archives (ZIP, RAR, RAR5, 7z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, ZST, ISO, CAB, and multi-part archives) and create ZIP or 7z archives. Your archives, their contents, and any passwords you type are processed only on your phone and never leave it.
- You do not need an account, and we never ask for your name or email address.
- The app is free and shows a full-screen ad only after an extraction or archive creation finishes, with no banner ads. Our advertising partners and service providers collect some information about your phone and how you use the app, as explained below.
- Where the law requires it, such as in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), and Switzerland, we only show personalised ads (ads matched to your interests) if you give your permission. You can change your choice at any time in the app.
What stays only on your phone?
You open an archive by tapping it in a file manager, browser, or chat app and choosing "Open with Easy Unzip", or by picking it with Android's file picker. Easy Unzip only gets access to the file you open or pick.
To read an archive, the app makes a temporary copy in its own private storage on your phone. This lets the app show the files inside (including showing file names in other languages, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Russian, from ZIP files made on older Windows computers) and lets you preview a file without extracting everything. Temporary copies and previews are deleted by the app or when you clear the app's cache or data.
When you extract all or selected files, or create a ZIP or 7z archive, the files are saved on your phone in the Download/Easy Unzip folder. They stay there until you delete them. On Android 7 to 9, the app asks for permission to save to that folder.
Passwords you type to open protected archives (including AES-encrypted ZIP archives) or to create password-protected ZIP or 7z archives are used only on your phone to open or create that archive. They are never stored or sent anywhere.
If you have an app installer bundle (APK, APKS, XAPK, or APKM), Easy Unzip can hand it to the Easy Installer app (or open its Google Play page if it is not installed). Easy Unzip itself does not install apps.
Your archives and their contents are processed only on your phone. They are never uploaded, sold, or shared.
What information is collected and why?
When you use the app, third-party tools built into the app collect the following categories of information from your phone:
- Device and app information: Basic details such as your phone model, Android system version, language, and app version.
- Identifiers: Resettable or random IDs, such as your Android advertising ID and random app installation IDs.
- Approximate location: Your general area (such as your country or region), estimated from your IP address (your internet address).
- How you use the app and interact with ads: Which screens you open, how often you use the app, and whether you see or tap on ads.
- Crash information: Technical details about what the app was doing if it crashes.
- Your ad consent choices: Your saved preferences for ad privacy.
This information is used to:
- show and measure ads, and prevent ad fraud
- remember your ad privacy choices
- understand app usage so we can improve the app
- find and fix crashes
Who receives this information?
This information is collected and processed by two categories of recipients:
- Advertising partners that show ads, measure how they perform, and stop ad fraud.
- Service providers that help us with analytics and crash reporting.
These advertising partners and service providers include Google. You can see the full list of advertising partners in the consent message inside the app, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
From these providers, we only receive aggregated summary reports that do not single you out, along with crash reports when the app stops working.
All data sent from your phone is encrypted in transit (scrambled while travelling over the internet so others cannot read it). It may be processed and stored on servers outside your country, including in the United States.
Why are we allowed to use this information?
Privacy laws require us to have a valid legal reason (called a "legal basis") for handling information:
- Showing ads (including personalised ads): Where required by law, we rely on your consent (your permission). Where consent is not required, we rely on our legitimate interest (a fair business reason) in paying for and running a free app.
- Usage reports and crash reports: We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working properly and improving it.
- Opening, previewing, and extracting archives, and saving extracted files or new archives to your phone: We do this to provide the service you asked for when you use the app.
What choices do you have?
- Ad consent: You can change your ad privacy choice at any time in the app's menu under Privacy settings (shown where consent is required).
- Advertising ID: You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (under Settings > Privacy > Ads, or Google > Ads). Without it, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised.
- Files and folder access: Easy Unzip only accesses the archive files you open or pick. On Android 7 to 9, you can remove permission to save to the
Download/Easy Unzipfolder in your phone's settings. You can also clear temporary copies at any time by clearing the app's cache or data. - Stop all collection: You can uninstall the app at any time to stop all data collection.
How long is information kept and how can it be deleted?
Temporary archive copies and previews in the app's private storage are deleted by the app or when you clear the app's cache or data. Settings kept on your phone are deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app. Extracted files and archives you create stay in the Download/Easy Unzip folder on your phone until you delete them yourself. Passwords you type are never stored. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days. Advertising partners keep data under their own privacy policies.
Because we do not use accounts or collect your name or email address, we usually cannot tell which analytics or crash data came from your phone. However, if you want us to delete analytics or crash data linked to your device, please email us and we will help as far as we can identify it.
What are your privacy rights?
Depending on where you live (for example, under the European GDPR, the UK GDPR, or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal data (access)
- fix mistakes in your data (correct)
- ask us to erase your data (delete)
- limit how we use your data (restrict processing)
- object to how we use your data
- take back your permission (withdraw consent)
- complain to your local data protection authority (privacy regulator)
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for any reason other than those explained in this policy. To use any of your rights, please contact us using the details below.
Is the app meant for children?
The app is not aimed at children under 13 (or the minimum legal age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
How will you know if this policy changes?
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when the latest version took effect. If we make important changes, we will also mention them in the app's update notes (release notes).
